Rose (Irene Miracle) is a single poet and lives in New York City. An old book leads her into the basement of their house, towards the home of a powerful witch, the Mater Tenebrarum. She is one of the "three mothers" - the others live in Freiburg and Rome: From their hideouts, they rule the "world of tears, sighs, and darkness." Rose is shocked and informs her brother Mark (Leigh McCloskey). But when he arrives after a long journey, Rose is gone. And in the city that never sleeps, something has awakened. A sinister, vicious creature. The mother of darkness.

After the fever dream Suspiria and Inferno, the centerpiece of Dario Argento's "Mothers Trilogy", a masterpiece of modern horror cinema. With the collaboration of the Italian "maestro del Macabro" Mario Bava and accompanied by the spectators and romantic compositions of the prog-rocker Keith Emerson, a glowing in all colors of the night ghost train ride caused by the nightmare worlds of the subconscious. Actresses legend Alida Valli (EYES WITHOUT FACE) and Argento's former partner Daria Nicolodi (Profondo ROSSO) shine in supporting roles, while hundreds of rats and death itself in the ranks of transporting INFERNO "Urban Gothic".
